A Review of Gear Fault Diagnosis of Planetary Gearboxes Using Acoustic Emissions

Abstract Despite the progress made in last decades field of machine condition monitoring, there are still cases where current state art is not enough and new technologies advanced analysis methods required to prevent unexpected failures. One example planetary gearboxes (PGs), which one main components mechanical transmission systems heavy-duty machines such as off-highway trucks, electric rope shovels, helicopters wind turbines. Although those usually equipped with vibration temperature sensors detect faults components, these might be able perform well under certain circumstances. Therefore, applied investigation on monitoring a necessary step. Among those, this review acoustic emission technology will addressed tool for fault diagnosis gear PG.
